Frugal Five Star: The Anatomy of Surf and Turf

Making delicious & impressive five star meals doesn't need to be expensive. No need to spend at least $25 each entree at a fancy shmancy restaurant! This Surf and Turf delight was made on a tight budget. Here's a breakdown of the meal . . .

1. Lobster Tails  (these are on sale right now this week at Harris Teeter for only 2.99 each!!!)

2. Uncle Ben's Ready Rice (this was free using the $1.00 off one coupon from the 7/11/10 Smart Source--then I waited to buy until my grocery store doubled it to get it for FREE!!! expires 9/5/10)

3. Chef's Requested Bacon Wrapped Fillets (there is a super hot coupon for $3.00 off any 8oz or greater Chef's Requested product coupon after you sign up for the newsletter Here!!! They sell these at Wal Mart for $3.68 for 2 fillets, which turns out to be only .68 for 2 after the coupon!!!! That's .34 cents a fillet!!! You can also splurge on the filet mignons they carry, which would turn out to be about $1.50 each--still an awesome price!!!

4.  A1 Steak Sauce--this was also free, but I have to admit I got it a long while ago and the coupon is no longer around . . . but do not fear. . . I found you a coupon for $1.00 off Heinz 57 Sauce and it looks like it can be used on their steak sauce or any of their other Heinz 57 Sauce Products!!!

5. The veggies (onions, peppers, tomatoes) were all purchased from my local Asian grocery store. This is my little secret to purchasing cheap produce. I always seem to find the produce at my local ethnic markets to be cheaper than chain grocery stores. I got the peppers for less than .50 a piece, which is good around my area!!!

So, the total cost for this Frugal Five Star was under $5.00 per person!!!  You can get a footlong for that much, but did you know you could get a Five Star meal for that much?!?!
